Raccoon Tests Positive for Rabies in McIntosh County

May 10, 2013 - A raccoon in the Doodle Hill area off Shellman Bluff Road in McIntosh County has tested positive for rabies. Two family pets (dogs) were exposed to the raccoon but up-to-date on rabies vaccinations. The pets will undergo 45-day quarantine as a precaution. There were no known human exposures. McIntosh County Environmental Health officials remind residents to get all pets vaccinated against rabies. Read More

Glynn County Health Dept. to Host Baby and Child Expo May 11

May 7, 2013 - The Glynn County Health Department and Glynn Place Mall will hold Baby and Child Fest 2013, a pregnancy and child expo, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Glynn Place Mall in Brunswick on Saturday, May 11. The expo is free, family friendly, and open to the public. Read More

April 18, 2013 - Last year in the Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties, more than 100,000 people, including infants and children, got immunized against diseases that could make them very sick or even worse. Chatham County Health Department to Close for Three Days in Early May

April 16, 2013 - The Chatham County Health Department and Chatham County Environmental Health Division will temporarily suspend services on May 2, 3 and 6 in order to move into the new Martha B. April 1, 2013 - Public Health touches the lives of millions of people every day, including the citizens of coastal Georgia. April 1-7 is National Public Health Week (NPHW) and this year's theme is "Public Health is ROI: Save Lives, Save Money." The 2013 NPHW theme was developed to highlight the value of prevention and the importance of well-supported public health systems in preventing disease, saving lives and curbing health care spending. Cat Tests Positive for Rabies; Health Department Officials Remind Residents to Get Pets Vaccinated

March 29, 2013 - A cat in Kingsland has tested positive for rabies and at least two people who were exposed to the cat are undergoing preventive treatment. Two other pets, another cat and a dog, that belonged to the same family that owned the cat were also exposed and have been euthanized. The cat, a calico, belonged to a family in the Southern Pines mobile home park in Kingsland. Anyone living in the mobile home park who may have come into contact with the cat between March 23 and 24 are asked to contact the Camden County Environmental Health manager at 912-552-0853. Babies Can't Wait Program Public Hearing and Comment Notice

March 11, 2013 - The Babies Can't Wait (BCW) Program is Georgia's statewide early intervention system for infants and toddlers with special needs, ages birth to three, and their families. The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency for administration of the BCW system. As required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA ) Part C section 34 CF R ยงยง303. JI 0-303.113, '"the State must publish its Part C application or policy in a manner that will ensure circulation throughout the State at least 60-days prior to the date on which the application or policy is submitted and allow an opportunity for public comments on the application or policy for at least 30 days during that 60-day publication period. In order to meet this requirement, BCW invites interested persons to participate in a 60-day public comment period for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2013 Annual State Appl ication under Part C of the Individuals with Disab i lities Education Act (IDEA) and Child Find, Personnel Management and Procedural Safeguards Policies.
